On Saturday, May 10, the Singapore America Business Association (SABA) of Northern California and the Singapore Consulate General in San Francisco jointly hosted the 2008 Singapore Charity Golf Tournament to benefit Blind Babies Foundation at the Bridges Golf Club in San Ramon, California. This is the second year that Blind Babies Foundation has been chosen as the beneficiary of the tournament, and it is a great honor to be the recipients of such generous support and recognition.
On this beautiful, sunny Saturday, more than 100 golfers turned out to test their skills on this challenging course, as many more arrived for an exciting reception with program, dinner and auction. This generous event was sponsored by many prominent Singapore and U.S. companies. It was William Chang of Stryker Endoscopy Corporation, a strong supporter of Blind Babies Foundation, who first brought our work to the attention of the Singapore American Business Association and helped inspire their selection of us as the charity recipient.
The inaugural tournament in 2007 raised over $21,000 for Blind Babies Foundation, and given the great success of Saturday’s event we expect this year’s amount to be even greater. Net proceeds from the tournament will support BBF’s Off to a Good Start program, which provides home visits, education, and access to medical services for more than 500 children and their families each year in 14 northern and central California counties.
